OPAL/Miner FAQ
Why does the demo mode use so much memory and seem to take so long when only downloading 10 records?
The amount of time required to download any one SAP table in the demo mode is nearly identical to the amount of time that will be required to download the same table when running a registered version of the software. The reason for this is that even in demo mode the table is processed in it's entirety based on the filter selections made (if any). It is only when the complete dataset is passed back to OPAL/Miner that OPAL/Miner takes control and stops processing after 10 records. This gives the evaluator an accurate idea on what performance levels can be expected from the product although it should be kept in mind that processing a large data selection will increase the amount of time required. As evidence of this, the demo mode message clearly states how many records were retrieved from the SAP table but that it will only hand over 10 of these to the evaluator. This can be verified by analysing the table from within SAP based on the same selection criteria. Please note that this message is not displayed when running in batch mode.
